What is the Cheaper Home Batteries Program?
- The Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program supports eligible households, businesses, and community organisations with the cost of installing eligible battery systems.
- From 1 July 2025, the program has provided an upfront discount of around 30% on eligible small-scale battery systems connected to new or existing rooftop solar.
- From 1 May 2026, changes were introduced to the battery rebate calculation. The discount is still designed to remain around 30% for a range of battery sizes, but the support now tapers depending on the amount of usable battery capacity installed.
