01 · Panel incentive

Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (STC rebate)

This is not usually paid to you as cash after installation. In most cases, the value of the STCs is applied as an upfront discount on your solar quote by your solar retailer or installer.

The STC rebate may apply to solar panel systems, solar system upgrades, adding panels to an existing system, and battery installations.

The amount can vary depending on your system size, location, installation date, and current STC value.

02 · Battery incentive

Cheaper Home Batteries Program

~30%upfront discount

The Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program supports eligible households, businesses, and community organisations with the cost of installing eligible battery systems.

From 1 July 2025, the program has provided an upfront discount of around 30% on eligible small-scale battery systems connected to new or existing rooftop solar.

From 1 May 2026, changes were introduced to the battery rebate calculation. The discount is still designed to remain around 30% for a range of battery sizes, but the support now tapers depending on the amount of usable battery capacity installed.
